Richard P. D’Addario

Richard P. D’Addario has built a distinguished legal career spanning more than five decades. Since beginning legal practice in 1971, he has earned a reputation for thoughtful counsel, strong ethical standards, and unwavering dedication to clients throughout Rhode Island and New York. His extensive experience, combined with a practical approach to legal problem-solving, has enabled him to guide individuals and families through a wide range of legal matters with confidence and care.

Richard developed the academic foundation for his legal career through a strong educational background. He earned an AB from Boston College in 1968. He later received his Juris Doctor from New York University School of Law in 1971. These academic achievements prepared him for a career marked by professionalism, sound judgment, and a deep understanding of the law.

Richard is admitted to practice in Rhode Island (1971), New York (1980), the U.S. District Court of Rhode Island (1972), and the U.S. Supreme Court (1980). His ability to practice before both state and federal courts reflects broad legal knowledge and a commitment to serving clients across multiple jurisdictions.

Richard has demonstrated leadership within the legal profession through significant service to the bar and the community. A past president of the Rhode Island Bar Association, he has played an important role in advancing the legal profession and supporting fellow attorneys. His dedication to public service has also been recognized through honors, including a Rhode Island Bar Association Certificate of Distinction and the Pro Bono Public Award from the Justinian Law Society.

Richard has remained deeply involved in community and volunteer efforts throughout his career. Active participation in the RI Bar Association Volunteer Lawyer Program and service on nonprofit boards such as the MLK Center and Newport County YMCA reflect a longstanding commitment to helping others beyond legal practice.
