About
Rebecca Wilson is the founder of Wilson Legal Planning in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Her practice focuses on estate planning, elder law, probate, and trust administration. Rebecca works with individuals and families on planning for incapacity, long-term care, asset transfers, special needs, and the administration of estates and trusts after death. After practicing in estate planning and elder law for 18 years, she founded the firm to continue helping clients understand their options and choose planning approaches suited to their families.
Rebecca received her undergraduate degree in psychology from Yale University with distinction. She later graduated cum laude from the University of Minnesota Law School. Her academic background provides a strong foundation for legal analysis and client counseling in matters involving aging, incapacity, family decision-making, government benefits, and estate administration. That training supports her work in creating and explaining planning documents while helping clients evaluate the legal consequences of different strategies for themselves and their loved ones.
Rebecca’s services include estate planning, elder law, special needs trusts, Medicaid planning, and probate and trust administration. She helps clients prepare for future care and financial needs, protect eligibility for government benefits when appropriate, and transfer assets following a loved one’s death. Her practice also involves educating clients about the available planning tools and administrative steps. By focusing on both advance planning and post-death administration, she works with families across several stages of the estate and elder law process.
Rebecca is a member of the National Association of Elder Law Attorneys, Sioux Falls Estate Planning Council, and the South Dakota Bar Association’s Elder Law Committee. She has served for years with the South Dakota Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association and is its President, and she frequently presents on estate planning and elder law. Rebecca Wilson combines long-term practice experience, community leadership, and education-focused client service to help families plan carefully and manage estate or elder law responsibilities.
