Raleigh Hansman

Raleigh Hansman is a partner with Meierhenry Sargent LLP in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Her current practice includes civil litigation, criminal defense, and appellate practice. Raleigh represents clients in disputes that require factual investigation, legal research, motion practice, courtroom advocacy, and appellate briefing. Her practice gives her experience with cases at both trial and appellate stages, allowing her to address immediate litigation needs while also considering how legal issues may be preserved and presented for review.

Raleigh graduated from the University of Colorado-Boulder before returning to South Dakota to attend law school. She earned her law degree from the University of South Dakota School of Law in May 2012 with Sterling Honors. During law school, she served as Lead Articles Editor for Volume 57 of the South Dakota Law Review and published two articles. Her academic work developed strong research, writing, and analytical skills that directly support civil litigation, criminal defense, and appellate advocacy.

Raleigh interned with Meierhenry Sargent during the summer of 2011 and joined the firm as a full-time associate in August 2012. She became a partner in 2017. Her law review publications examined South Dakota legal doctrine and constitutional issues, giving her additional experience analyzing appellate decisions and complex legal questions. In practice, she works closely on civil disputes, criminal matters, and appeals, where a clear understanding of the record, legal standards, and persuasive written advocacy is essential.

Raleigh’s career has developed within the same firm from summer intern to associate and partner, providing continuity and substantial experience with South Dakota litigation. Her Sterling Honors record and law review leadership reflect strong research and writing credentials that complement her courtroom work. Raleigh Hansman brings a careful, appellate-aware approach to civil and criminal matters, helping clients evaluate legal issues, prepare for hearings or trial, and present focused arguments when a case proceeds to appellate review.
