Rachel Kugel

Rachel Kugel is the founder of The Kugel Law Firm and focuses her criminal defense practice on DWI and DUI cases in New York and New Jersey. For more than two decades, she has represented people accused of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Her work centers on protecting clients’ rights, examining the evidence behind an arrest, and developing defense strategies for charges that can affect driving privileges and personal freedom.

Kugel earned a B.A. in Philosophy from American University and a J.D. from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. Her legal education provided the analytical and advocacy foundation for a practice concentrated on impaired-driving defense. Since entering practice, she has built experience with the procedural, scientific, and courtroom issues that arise in DWI and DUI cases, including challenges to testing, police conduct, and the government’s proof.

Kugel represents clients throughout the stages of a DWI matter, from initial investigation and charging decisions through negotiations, motions, hearings, and trial preparation. She has practiced DWI defense in New York and New Jersey for more than 20 years. She is a member of the National College for DUI Defense and the DUI Defense Lawyers Association, organizations focused on education and advocacy in impaired-driving cases.

Rachel Kugel has been invited to speak about DWI practice and the business of law for legal organizations and professional programs. She has also been selected as a Rising Star by Super Lawyers for multiple years.
