Rachel K. Berngartt

Rachel K. Berngartt is a Vice President and Partner Attorney serving Juneau, Alaska. Originally from Ohio, she has lived in Alaska since 2002. She brings a unique background in both law and veterinary medicine, offering clients thoughtful and practical guidance across a range of legal matters.

Rachel earned her law degree from Seattle University School of Law in 2020, graduating magna cum laude. She also earned her veterinary degree from the Ohio State College of Veterinary Medicine in 2001. Her education supports her work in law, science, and complex legal issues.

Rachel focuses her legal practice on litigation, family law, contracts, animal law, and science law. She has experience in drafting, trial work, and legal research. Her work often connects legal issues with science, especially in cases involving animals, ethics, and client care.

Rachel received numerous merit-based scholarships and earned CALI Awards for outstanding achievement in Legal Writing, Torts, and Gender & Law Studies. She also gained valuable experience through internships and externships, including work with Seed Intellectual Property, the District Attorney’s office, and the Attorney General’s Office in Juneau.

Rachel’s career also includes years of veterinary practice, working with many species from domestic animals to wildlife. She has participated in Antarctic research projects and published in peer-reviewed journals. She also serves in leadership and volunteer roles, including the Board of Veterinary Examiners and other professional organizations.
