Michael Bullotta is the founder of Bullotta Law, a boutique litigation firm based in Detroit, Michigan. He brings over two decades of experience as a former federal prosecutor, focusing on high-stakes federal criminal defense for individuals and corporations. Known for his deep understanding of federal investigations and trial practice, Mr. Bullotta offers strategic counsel to clients facing federal charges, internal investigations, or government scrutiny.
Mr. Bullotta earned his J.D., magna cum laude, from Georgetown Law School in 1992. He was an associate editor of the Georgetown Law Journal and elected to the Order of the Coif.
Mr. Bullotta began his legal career as a Deputy District Attorney in Los Angeles, where he served five years in the elite Hardcore Gang Unit, prosecuting gang-related homicides. In 1997, he became an Assistant U.S. Attorney in Los Angeles, where he prosecuted major national and international narcotics trafficking organizations. In 2001, he transferred to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Detroit, returning to his home state of Michigan. There, he spent two decades in the Public Corruption Unit, leading some of the most high-profile corruption cases in the region.
In private practice, R. Michael Bullotta leverages his courtroom experience and investigative insight to defend clients in cases involving public corruption, wire and mail fraud, tax crimes, racketeering, narcotics, and money laundering. His practice also includes advising corporations under federal investigation, conducting internal investigations, and working with law enforcement and the Department of Justice on behalf of clients.
