Phillip North

Phillip North is a member of North Pursell & Ramos in Nashville and a civil trial attorney with more than 40 years of courtroom experience. His practice includes Civil Trial Practice, FELA, Medical Malpractice, Products Liability, and Aviation Law. He has represented injured clients in accident, defective product, discrimination, and railroad matters while defending physicians and hospitals in medical malpractice litigation.

North earned a J.D. cum laude from Pepperdine University School of Law in 1975, where he served as Editor-in-Chief of the Pepperdine Law Review. He received a B.A. from David Lipscomb College in 1972 and was named to the Dean’s List. His academic training supports the legal analysis, writing, and courtroom preparation required in complex civil disputes involving detailed evidence and expert issues.

North has tried more than 100 civil jury cases in state and federal courts. His experience spans claims brought by injured people, medical malpractice defense, FELA matters, products liability, and other civil disputes. He has served as a neutral arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association, adding a dispute-resolution perspective to a career built around trial practice and contested civil matters.
