Philip M. Gerson

Philip M. Gerson is the founder and senior partner of Gerson & Schwartz, P.A., and has been practicing law in Miami for more than five decades. A board-certified civil trial lawyer, he has dedicated his career to representing injury victims in complex litigation, including medical malpractice, cruise ship accidents, wrongful death, catastrophic injuries, and product liability cases. His advocacy is marked by a strong commitment to securing justice for clients harmed by negligence or misconduct.

Philip earned his Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Miami in 1967 on a debate scholarship. He went on to receive his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the University of Miami School of Law in 1970, graduating in the top five percent of his class. During law school, he served on the editorial board of the Law Review, won Moot Court competitions, and was inducted into the Wig and Robe Society, distinguishing himself early as a talented advocate.

Throughout his career, Philip has held leadership roles in professional and community organizations. He is a sustaining member of the Florida Justice Association, the American Association for Justice, and the Dade County Bar Association.

Philip has also served as president of the National Crime Victim Bar Association and on the executive committee of the National Center for Victims of Crime. In addition, he serves as a lecturer on topics including negligent security, medical malpractice, and crime victim rights, shaping the legal education and practice of peers and students alike.
