Peter J. Torcicollo

Peter J. Torcicollo is Co-Managing Partner at FBT Gibbons, Partner-In-Charge of the Newark office, and a member of the firm’s Executive Committee, Partner Compensation Committee, and Board of Directors. His practice focuses on commercial litigation, construction disputes, and alternative dispute resolution for clients in several legal forums today.

Pete has a broad commercial litigation practice with substantial trial experience. He has handled matters in federal courts, the state courts of New York and New Jersey, AAA arbitration, and private party arbitration. His background helps him guide clients through complex disputes with careful preparation and clear legal judgment.

Pete has extensive experience handling construction-related disputes. His work includes contract claims, change order claims, construction defects, scheduling and delay issues, construction liens, public bidding, and design disputes. Before joining the firm, he worked in the construction industry, which gives him practical insight into construction-related legal disputes.

Pete also handles commercial contract disputes, minority shareholder and partnership disputes, restrictive covenant litigation, defense of RICO and class action claims, and labor-related claims in the construction sector. His practice supports clients facing business and construction disputes that require strong planning, focused advocacy, and steady legal client representation.

Pete has served the firm in important leadership roles. He chaired the Professional Development Committee and served as Director of Recruiting, Associate Retention and Lateral Hiring for more than fifteen years. These roles show his long commitment to lawyer development, firm service, and professional growth within the firm.

Pete is a Trustee of the Association of the Federal Bar of New Jersey. He serves on the New Jersey Judicial and Prosecutorial Appointments Committee and is a former Trustee of the Trial Attorneys of New Jersey. He also obtained Mediation Certification from the Harvard Law School Program on Negotiation.
