Pete Rutter

Pete Rutter is a seasoned trial attorney with a litigation-focused practice built on decades of courtroom experience. He represents clients in complex personal injury matters and is known for his strategic approach, preparation, and ability to manage high-stakes cases from investigation through verdict with confidence and precision.

Pete earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from Baylor University, where he was also a standout football player from 1986 to 1990. He received All-Southwest Conference honors for three consecutive years, earned honorable mention All-American recognition, and later signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Pete concentrates his practice on personal injury, including auto accidents, premises liability, company vehicle accidents, trucking accidents, and workplace injuries. His background in trial defense and litigation allows him to anticipate challenges, evaluate risk effectively, and advocate forcefully for clients facing serious injuries and disputed liability.

After completing his undergraduate education, Pete earned his law degree from Tulsa College of Law. He began his legal career in Tyler, Texas, focusing on litigation and trial defense for individuals and companies. This early foundation shaped his long-term commitment to courtroom advocacy and case strategy.

Over a legal career spanning more than 28 years, Pete has handled thousands of litigation matters and tried over 150 cases to jury verdict. He has been licensed in the State of Texas since 1994 and is admitted to practice in the Eastern, Western, Northern, and Southern U.S. Federal District Courts.

Pete Rutter joined DJC Law in 2021, where he continues to handle complex personal injury cases, applying decades of trial experience to client advocacy. Outside the office, he spends time on his farm near Mexia, Texas, raising longhorn cattle and enjoying life with his son and dogs.
