Periann Doko

Periann Doko is a partner at Berger McDermott LLP in Wilmington, Delaware. Their practice focuses on corporate and commercial litigation, including insurance coverage and complex contract disputes. Doko represents businesses and executives in state and federal court and advises on insurance coverage disputes and the interpretation and enforcement of complex contractual provisions. Their work includes high-stakes commercial matters resolved through trial, motion practice, and negotiated settlements. Doko earned a J.D., cum laude, from Widener University Delaware Law School and a B.S. from The College of New Jersey. They also teach as an adjunct professor at Widener University Delaware Law School, including courses in legal writing, interviewing and counseling, and digital forensics in criminal law. That training supports the research, analysis, writing, and practical judgment required in Doko’s current practice.

Doko’s experience includes commercial litigation, insurance coverage disputes, complex contract cases, and other corporate disputes in Delaware state and federal courts. Before private commercial practice, they served for more than eleven years as a Deputy Attorney General, prosecuted felony matters, and headed the Delaware Department of Justice Child Predator Unit. They later managed the Delaware office of an insurance defense firm. Through this work, Doko has developed familiarity with the procedures, documents, and legal standards that commonly shape these matters.

Periann Doko was appointed to the Delaware Board of Bar Examiners in 2023 and was elected a Berger McDermott partner in 2026. They are active in the Rodney Inn of Court, Delaware State Bar Association Women in the Law Section, and American Bar Association. In insurance coverage and corporate litigation, Doko works to identify the material issues, explain available options clearly, and keep the legal strategy tied to practical client needs.
