Paul D. Jarvis

Paul D. Jarvis is a Burlington, Vermont attorney and founder of Paul Jarvis Law. He has practiced in Vermont since 1972, with a strong focus on criminal defense, DUI matters, and family law. His criminal practice includes serious felony and misdemeanor charges, while his family law work covers divorce, parental rights and responsibilities, parentage, CHINS proceedings, and juvenile cases.

Paul graduated cum laude from the University of Vermont and earned his law degree from Boston College Law School. He was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa while at the University of Vermont. His education provided the foundation for a long trial and appellate practice involving criminal, family, and civil matters, along with decades of direct work in Vermont courts.

Paul began his legal career as a prosecutor in the Chittenden County State’s Attorney Office before entering private practice. He later became a partner in Jarvis and Kaplan, formed Jarvis and McArthur, and helped establish Jarvis, McArthur & Williams before creating Paul Jarvis Law in 2023. He has argued numerous cases before the Vermont Supreme Court and has served as an acting judge in Vermont Superior Court divisions.

Paul D. Jarvis is admitted in Vermont and before the US District Court for the District of Vermont. His decades of courtroom work give him extensive familiarity with criminal proceedings, DUI cases, family disputes, and related civil litigation. He continues to represent clients in Burlington and across Vermont with a practice built around trial advocacy, appellate experience, and long-standing knowledge of state court procedure statewide.
