Patrick Malone

Patrick Malone is a nationally recognized trial attorney and founding partner of Patrick Malone & Associates in Washington, D.C. For more than 40 years, he has dedicated his legal career to representing individuals and families who have suffered catastrophic injuries due to medical negligence, defective products, or institutional wrongdoing. A graduate of Yale Law School, Malone clerked for U.S. District Judge Gerhard Gesell before launching his litigation career in 1985. He is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia. Prior to law, Malone was an award-winning investigative journalist, earning national recognition, including a Pulitzer Prize finalist honor, for reporting on medical misconduct. That background sharpened his talent for uncovering facts, challenging institutions, and presenting persuasive narratives in court.

Malone is a Senior Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America, a Fellow of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, and a member of the Inner Circle of Advocates—an elite group limited to 100 of the top trial lawyers in the U.S. He has served as president of the Pound Civil Justice Institute and, most recently, the Belli Society, which honored him with the 2024 Mel Award for his contributions to advocacy and legal education.

Patrick Malone is also a prolific author. His works include The Fearless Cross-Examiner, Winning Medical Malpractice Cases with the Rules of the Road Technique, and The Life You Save, a guide to safer healthcare decisions. His firm has achieved some of the largest verdicts and settlements in pharmaceutical and medical injury litigation.
