About

Patrick J. Murphy is a Boston criminal defense lawyer who represents people facing serious criminal charges throughout Massachusetts. Licensed in the state since 1994, he handles OUI and DUI allegations, assault and other violent crimes, abuse-related offenses, motor vehicle matters, gun and weapons charges, drug crimes, property offenses, theft, and public order cases. His work centers on building defenses and advocating for clients in court.

Patrick earned his Juris Doctor from New England School of Law in 1994, graduating cum laude in the top 10 percent of his class. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Massachusetts in 1989 and earned Dean’s List recognition. His education provided a strong foundation in legal analysis and careful preparation, skills that support his work in complex criminal cases.

Patrick has won numerous criminal trials and developed substantial experience representing people charged with serious offenses. Two of his matters, Commonwealth v. DiBennedetto and Commonwealth v. Phifer, resulted in published decisions. Early in his career, he became affiliated with Suffolk Lawyers for Justice and represented indigent defendants in the district courts of Suffolk County. That work gave him extensive courtroom experience while serving clients who needed dedicated defense counsel.

Patrick J. Murphy is a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association and the Massachusetts Academy of Trial Attorneys and has maintained both memberships since 1994. He also attends continuing legal education programs and seminars to stay current on criminal law developments. Beyond his legal practice, he has volunteered in soup kitchens and provided pro bono legal services. His background reflects a combination of courtroom advocacy, continued study, and service to people from varied backgrounds.
