Nicholas C. Deets is an Indiana trial lawyer and a partner at Hovde Dassow + Deets, LLC, who represents plaintiffs in personal injury law, medical malpractice, wrongful death, product liability, and insurance coverage matters. He has taken more than 80 jury trials to verdict and has argued significant cases in state and federal courts. His work includes precedent-setting litigation before the Seventh Circuit and the US Supreme Court, reflecting extensive courtroom experience and a sustained focus on injured clients statewide.
Nicholas earned his J.D., cum laude, from Indiana University Maurer School of Law, where he served as managing editor of the Journal of Global Legal Studies and joined the American Bar Association Moot Court Team. He earned his B.S.I.M. with honors from Purdue University. He was admitted to the Indiana bar in 1993 and is also admitted to federal district courts, the Seventh Circuit, and the US Supreme Court nationwide.
Nicholas has handled complex claims involving serious injuries, medical negligence, defective products, wrongful death, and insurance disputes. His appellate work includes cases that influenced Indiana tort law, including Cosme v. Erie Insurance and Kosarko v. Padula. He also writes and lectures on trial practice, damages, negligence, liens, discovery, and litigation strategy, sharing practical insight with other lawyers while continuing to represent clients in high-stakes civil matters across Indiana courts regularly.
Nicholas C. Deets has received recognition, including Best Lawyers “Lawyer of the Year” honors in medical malpractice, personal injury, and mass tort litigation.
