Neha Vyas is an immigration attorney in Kent, Washington, who represents individuals and families in complex immigration matters. Her practice focuses on VAWA self-petitions, U visas, asylum, family-based immigration, citizenship, and removal defense, including appeals. She helps clients navigate humanitarian and family immigration processes while addressing difficult legal issues involving status, protection, and removal proceedings. Her work reflects extensive experience representing immigrants in both administrative and federal court matters.
Vyas earned her J.D. from Campbell Law School in 1997 and a B.A. in Speech Communication and Spanish from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1993. During law school, she received the Calhoun Advocacy Award for performance in trial and appellate advocacy and received a scholarship to study immigration law in Mexico. Her academic training in advocacy, communication, and Spanish supports her work with clients facing complex immigration challenges.
Vyas has built her career in immigration law through private practice, nonprofit leadership, and direct client representation. She previously served as a senior attorney, led the Northwest Immigrant Rights Project as Legal Director, and practiced independently in Tucson, Arizona. Earlier, she worked as a staff attorney with the Tucson Ecumenical Council for Legal Assistance, handling asylum and other immigration matters. She also served as lead counsel in Guerra et al. v. USA, a federal case involving a J-1 waiver application.
Neha Vyas has contributed to immigrant advocacy through professional education, public service, and community involvement. She frequently speaks at immigration law conferences and continuing legal education programs and has participated in legislative efforts involving immigrants’ rights. Her work has included testimony before the Washington State Senate and King County Council, as well as community outreach. She also received an award recognizing her dedication to battered immigrant women and has served nonprofit organizations supporting immigrants and survivors of domestic violence.
