Nancy Turbak Berry

Nancy Turbak Berry is a highly respected South Dakota trial attorney and founder of Turbak Law Office, P.C. She focuses on representing injured clients and policyholders in insurance disputes. She is known for strong advocacy, effective case strategy, and achieving meaningful results in complex legal matters.

Nancy earned an A.B., cum laude, in Government from Harvard College in 1977. She later received her Juris Doctor from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law in 1981. She was among the first in South Dakota to earn national board certification in Civil Trial Advocacy and Civil Pretrial Practice.

Nancy has received many honors for her work. She holds an AV Preeminent® rating and is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. Her awards include the Lifetime Achievement Award, Trial Lawyer of the Year, and Attorney of the Year, as well as repeated recognition in Best Lawyers, Super Lawyers, and Benchmark Litigation.

Nancy has held key leadership roles throughout her career. She has served as President of the South Dakota Trial Lawyers, Commissioner of the State Bar of South Dakota, Chair of the Disciplinary Board, adjunct professor at USD Law School, and a member of the State Legislature, contributing to both the legal field and public service.

Nancy is admitted to practice in South Dakota State Courts and the U.S. District Court for the District of South Dakota. She focuses on personal injury, workers’ compensation, insurance disputes, and wrongful death cases, providing thoughtful guidance and strong representation to clients facing serious legal challenges.
