Monica D. Moons

Monica D. Moons is a shareholder of the firm and concentrates her practice in trusts and estates, probate, and dispute resolution. Her work focuses on estate planning and taxation, estate and trust administration, probate and tax litigation, and real estate matters, providing comprehensive legal guidance to individuals and fiduciaries.

Monica earned a Bachelor of Science degree, cum laude, from Lawrence Technological University in 1991. She received her Juris Doctor degree from Wayne State University Law School in 1995 and has been admitted to practice law in Michigan since that year.

Monica advises clients on estate and gift tax counseling and prepares both standard and sophisticated estate planning documents. Her practice includes administering estates and trusts for individual and corporate fiduciaries, ensuring compliance with legal and tax requirements while addressing complex planning and administration needs.

Monica regularly represents estates, trusts, trustees, and beneficiaries in contested probate, trust, and estate administration matters. She has extensive experience handling Probate Court proceedings, including will and trust contests, guardianships, conservatorships, trust reformations, trustee representation, and examinations of fiduciary accountings.

In addition to her estate-focused work, Monica prepares gift and estate tax returns and handles commercial and residential real estate acquisitions and sales. Her broad experience allows her to address overlapping legal, tax, and property issues that often arise in estate and trust matters.

Monica D. Moons is a member of the Michigan Bar Association, the Oakland County Bar Association Probate Estate and Trust Committee, and the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan. She is a frequent speaker on estate planning and administration for professional groups and financial planning seminars, and has been recognized as a Michigan Leading Lawyer from 2016 through 2019.
