The practice includes divorce, parenting and custody disputes, cooperative family-law processes, criminal defense, DUI matters, mediation, and selected injury claims. Gaubatz works with individuals and families facing personal, criminal, or family-related legal disputes.
Gaubatz earned a J.D. from the Alexander Blewett III School of Law at the University of Montana with a Certificate in Mediation and a B.A. in English Literature and American History from San Francisco State University. Her academic and mediation training support a practice that often requires both courtroom advocacy and negotiated problem solving. This training supports the research, analysis, writing, and problem solving required in matters involving detailed records and important client decisions.
Gaubatz’s experience includes work as a prosecutor, hearings officer, legal librarian, and judicial clinical clerk for U.S. District Judge Donald Molloy before entering private practice. In addition, Gaubatz has helped develop cooperative family-law approaches in Montana and also has experience as a guardian ad litem and certified mediator. The practice involves organizing financial and family facts, preparing for hearings, negotiating workable terms, and protecting client interests when court action is necessary.
Misty Gaubatz is trained in standardized field sobriety testing and combines family-law, criminal, and mediation experience in client representation. Gaubatz uses litigation and dispute-resolution skills to help clients understand options, prepare for court, and pursue practical outcomes in difficult personal matters. The focus remains on clear communication, realistic options, and strategies that address both immediate disputes and longer-term family consequences. This experience supports careful judgment and clear communication throughout each stage of a legal matter.
