About

Mike Lang is a transactional attorney and business and real estate law advisor at The Gibson Legal Group, with 17 years of experience helping clients grow businesses and develop projects. He advises on acquisitions, development, financing, tax efficiency, compliance, property tax appeals, eminent domain, condemnation, and asset exits. His work includes coordinating complex projects, negotiating loan terms, protecting sale proceeds, and developing strategies designed to preserve owner equity and reduce post-closing disputes across complex commercial matters.

Mike earned his J.D. from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law and his B.A. from Ball State University. He completed his undergraduate degree in 2003 and earned his law degree in 2006. His education supports a practice centered on business transactions, commercial real estate, development, financing, tax planning, and compliance. He applies that background when helping clients structure deals and manage legal and financial considerations effectively and growth.

Mike spent more than five years working on complex redevelopment projects with Simon Property Group. His work involved large-format health clubs, multifamily projects, luxury big-box tenants, national discount brands, restaurants, and transactions requiring extensive construction or buildouts. He uses that experience when advising owners, developers, and businesses on acquisitions, project coordination, financing, redevelopment, and operational planning involving multiple stakeholders, lenders, investors, vendors, contractors, and commercial counterparties in demanding commercial transactions.

Mike Lang also brings firsthand business and real estate ownership experience to his legal practice. He has assembled, managed, improved, and sold a portfolio of apartments, giving him practical insight into relationships with customers, lenders, investors, and vendors. He helps clients align legal strategy with business, tax, compliance, and investment goals while addressing development risks, financing concerns, property issues, transaction structure, and challenges involving struggling or transitioning assets when needed.
