Michelle Kniess

Michelle Kniess is an Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota, attorney and founder who focuses on family law and mediation. She represents clients in divorce, custody, parenting time, and family conflict matters. Her practice also includes collaborative law, mediation, settlement conferences, and parenting consultant work. She helps clients understand legal options, address difficult family transitions, and pursue practical solutions while preparing for courtroom advocacy when needed.

Kniess earned a J.D. from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 2005. She received a B.A. in Business Management from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in 2002 and an M.A. in Theological Studies from Bethel Seminary in 2025. Her education supports a practice built on legal analysis, negotiation, communication, and careful problem-solving in family law matters involving children, finances, and long-term family decisions.

Kniess opened Mosaic Family Law & Mediation in 2023 after building more than 20 years of legal experience. She began her career as a business litigator in downtown Minneapolis before shifting her focus to family law. She later opened a family law boutique practice serving Woodbury, the East Metro, and Wisconsin. Her experience includes litigating numerous family law cases in Minnesota and Wisconsin while also encouraging problem-solving and peaceful resolutions when appropriate.

Michelle Kniess is admitted in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and the US District Court for the District of Minnesota. She is a Rule 114 Qualified Neutral and is certified in FENE, SENE, and Moderated Settlement Conference work in Minnesota.
