About

Michael Parise is Senior Counsel in Ballard Spahr LLP’s Anchorage office. He advises clients on commercial law, contracts, mergers and acquisitions, complex loan transactions, real estate, bankruptcy, loan restructuring, maritime vessel financing, business law, foreclosures, and Uniform Commercial Code disputes. Michael works extensively with financial institutions and businesses, helping clients structure financing, address creditors’ rights, manage commercial transactions, and resolve disputes involving significant assets and operating relationships.

Michael earned a J.D. from Boston University School of Law and a B.A., cum laude, from Williams College, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. His academic training supports a practice that combines transactional planning, finance, real estate, bankruptcy, and litigation. The breadth of that background helps him analyze both the business terms and legal risks involved in complex lending arrangements, acquisitions, restructurings, and secured transactions.

Michael has advised banks and other lenders on credit facilities, acquisition financing, real estate loans, loan workouts, vessel financing, and bankruptcy matters. His representative work includes financing involving seafood processors, Alaska Native corporations, oil and gas exploration, mining assets, aviation operations, tourism businesses, and maritime vessels. He has also represented parties in negotiations and litigation concerning oil and gas financing, mining claims, timber contracts, port arrangements, and other commercial matters in Alaska and beyond.

Michael Parise has been recognized by Chambers USA in Corporate/M&A, Bankruptcy/Restructuring, and Real Estate, and by The Best Lawyers in America in bankruptcy and corporate law categories. Alaska Business Magazine has also listed him among Alaska’s Legal Elite in Business Law. His practice combines detailed financing knowledge with experience in workouts, restructuring, transactions, and disputes, allowing him to guide lenders and businesses through complex commercial decisions and changing financial circumstances.
