About
Michael P. Lyons is a nationally recognized trial attorney and Partner at Lyons & Simmons, LLP. He represents victims and families in catastrophic personal injury and wrongful death cases nationwide and is known for disciplined preparation, aggressive advocacy, and exceptional results in high-stakes litigation.
Michael earned his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from South Texas College of Law in 1999, where he was inducted into the Order of the Lytae and served as Assistant Editor of the Corporate Counsel Review. He received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Texas at Austin in 1995.
With more than 26 years of experience, Michael has handled complex cases nationwide involving construction disasters, medical malpractice, trucking collisions, workplace explosions, and negligent security. Since 2023, his verdicts and settlements have totaled more than $1 billion, reflecting consistent success in the courtroom.
Michael has served as lead or co-lead counsel in multiple record-setting verdicts in Texas. His work includes some of the largest wrongful death, medical malpractice, and personal injury verdicts in the state, as well as nationally ranked outcomes arising from catastrophic incidents and mass casualty events.
Michael’s leadership extends beyond individual trials. In 2022, he was appointed to the Plaintiffs’ Executive Committee in the Astroworld Festival litigation, where he played a key role in developing the case strategy and achieving successful resolutions for all death claims.
