Michael earned a B.A. from Samford University in 1974, graduating summa cum laude with majors in Economics and History. He later received a J.D. from Cumberland School of Law, Samford University in 1977, graduating cum laude and serving on the Cumberland Law Review Editorial Board.
Michael began his legal career serving as a law clerk for Presiding Judge Charles Wright of the Alabama Court of Civil Appeals from 1977 through 1978. This early experience helped shape his strong analytical skills and understanding of appellate and trial-level legal processes.
Michael has spent decades representing clients in civil trials and complex litigation matters since 1978. His work includes handling cases involving negligence, fraud, wrongful death, and product liability, where he consistently protects client interests through thorough preparation and effective advocacy.
Michael is also widely recognized for his contributions to legal scholarship. He is the author of all eight editions of Alabama Tort Law, a comprehensive legal treatise covering key topics such as damages, insurance issues, and employment-related claims. He has also contributed to national publications and regularly lectures in continuing legal education programs.
Michael L. Roberts has been involved in numerous professional legal organizations and serves as an arbitrator through the American Arbitration Association.
