About
Michael L. Hoke is a Hawaii attorney with a strong litigation background and a broad practice serving individuals, businesses, and organizations. His work includes civil litigation, criminal defense, construction disputes, employment matters, business disputes, bankruptcy matters, and personal injury claims, enabling him to confidently guide clients through complex legal challenges.
Michael earned his bachelor’s degree from Weber State University before attending the William S. Richardson School of Law at the University of Hawaii. During law school, he served on the Law Review, received multiple CALI Excellence for the Future Awards, and graduated magna cum laude with his Juris Doctor degree. After law school, he began his legal career as a litigation associate at one of Hawaii’s largest full-service law firms. In that role, he gained civil litigation experience in strategy, motions, discovery, negotiation, and client counseling across Hawaii courts.
Michael later served as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney for the City and County of Honolulu, where he prosecuted a wide range of criminal cases. That work gave him extensive courtroom experience, including bench and jury trials, and strengthened his ability to evaluate evidence, prepare arguments, and advocate effectively under pressure. His background in both civil and criminal practice allows him to assess legal problems from several perspectives. He has represented clients in courts, arbitrations, and mediations, helping protect their rights and pursue practical resolutions.
Clients benefit from Michael L. Hoke’s ability to combine careful preparation with clear communication. Whether addressing a business dispute, employment concern, construction matter, bankruptcy issue, criminal charge, or injury claim, he focuses on helping people understand their options, manage legal risks, and make informed decisions at every stage of representation. He is admitted to practice in Hawaii, the U.S. District Court for the District of Hawaii, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. His memberships in Hawaii, Maui, and the American bar associations reflect his commitment to legal service.
