Michael Confusione

Michael Confusione is an appellate attorney who co-founded Hegge & Confusione, LLC in 1999 and leads the firm’s appellate practice. He has more than 20 years of appellate experience and has handled hundreds of civil and criminal appeals. His work includes state and federal matters involving individual appellants and major litigation. He personally works on each case and provides clients with direct assessments of their appellate options, costs, and potential benefits.

Mr. Confusione earned a J.D., magna cum laude, from Rutgers University School of Law – Camden. He served as Articles Editor of the Rutgers Law Journal and received several American Jurisprudence awards. He earned a B.A. in English, cum laude, from Tulane University. His undergraduate studies included a Dean’s Honor Scholarship. His academic work provided a foundation for a career focused on written advocacy, constitutional questions, and complex appellate issues.

Mr. Confusione handles appeals in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and federal appellate courts. He is admitted before the US Supreme Court and several US Courts of Appeals. These include the First, Second, Third, Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, Seventh, and District of Columbia Circuits. His work spans civil and criminal appeals, and he has represented clients in cases involving constitutional issues, trial court errors, and other grounds for appellate review.

Michael Confusione previously practiced with McCarter & English, LLP and Klehr, Harrison, Harvey, Branzburg & Ellers, LLP before forming his current firm. He has authored articles published in the Rutgers Law Journal addressing constitutional law and judicial topics. His practice remains centered on appellate advocacy, including evaluating potential appeals, preparing written arguments, and representing clients before state and federal appellate courts.
