Michael Blackwell

Michael Blackwell is a partner who helps clients navigate structural changes in the energy industry. He practices from Carmel, Indiana, as part of the firm’s virtual office, The Link. His work centers on energy infrastructure development, transactions, and regulatory matters across federal and state levels.

Michael earned a J.D. from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law, with certification in Energy, Environmental, and Natural Resources Law, and served as editor of a law review. He also holds a B.A. in Economics from Indiana University, summa cum laude, with a business management certification.

Michael advises clients on federal and state energy laws, regulations, and policies. He represents clients in proceedings before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, public service commissions, and courts. He guides clients through organized energy markets, transmission systems, and interconnection procedures, providing clear, practical advice.

Michael supports the development of transmission facilities, interconnection assets, generators, battery storage, and large load integrations. He represents developers, investors, financial institutions, and energy providers in mergers, acquisitions, financings, restructurings, and outsourcing arrangements, and drafts and negotiates a wide range of energy-related commercial agreements.
