Michael Balk

Michael Balk is an associate attorney at Frank & Juengel Law Group in Clayton, where he works in a practice devoted to criminal defense. His background includes exposure to trial work, appellate defense, prosecution, and legal-services representation. Michael earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Missouri-Columbia, along with certificates in American Constitutional Democracy and Multiculturalism. He later graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law. During law school, he served as Academic Chairman of the Criminal Law Society, Treasurer of the Business Law Society, and a member of the UMKC National Moot Court team.

Michael completed internships with Legal Services of Southern Missouri, the Missouri State Public Defender’s Office, the Federal Defender for the Western District of Missouri, and the US Attorney’s Office. His assignments included trial work, appellate defense, and matters involving drug trafficking and violent crimes. This mix of defense and prosecution experience helps him evaluate legal issues from competing perspectives and prepare arguments with attention to procedure, evidence, and case strategy.
