About

Matthew H. Mead is a partner at Hathaway & Kunz in Cheyenne whose practice focuses on government relations and public policy. Drawing on his public-service background, he works on issues involving economic diversification, technology and connectivity, telemedicine, rural health, conservation, and energy. His current practice is centered on clients and projects that affect Wyoming’s economy and communities, particularly where business development and public policy require coordinated legal and governmental strategy.

Matthew earned a law degree from the University of Wyoming College of Law after completing his undergraduate education at Trinity University in San Antonio. His legal education supported a career that has included private practice, prosecution, federal service, and statewide executive leadership. That broad background gives him direct familiarity with Wyoming institutions, public decision-making, economic policy, and the legal framework surrounding government programs and regulated industries.

Matthew previously served as United States Attorney for the District of Wyoming from 2001 to 2007 and as the 32nd Governor of Wyoming from 2011 to 2019. As governor, he worked on economic development, energy policy, infrastructure, technology, broadband access, and government operations. His current work continues many of those themes, including economic diversification and initiatives intended to expand opportunities and strengthen Wyoming’s long-term economic foundation.

Matthew H. Mead brings senior government experience to legal and public-policy matters that involve Wyoming businesses, institutions, and communities. His perspective combines prosecution, executive leadership, private practice, and state economic development work. By advising on government relations and policy questions connected with energy, technology, connectivity, health care, and diversification, he helps clients understand public priorities, navigate government processes, and pursue projects with statewide economic and community implications.
