Matthew D. Kaplan

Matthew D. Kaplan is the founding attorney of Kaplan Law, LLC, where he represents victims of serious personal injury and wrongful death across Oregon. With decades of courtroom experience, he provides aggressive, intelligent advocacy to clients harmed by negligence, unsafe conditions, or civil rights violations.

Matthew earned his Juris Doctor from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles in 1996 and graduated cum laude with a B.A. in History from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst in 1993. He began his legal career as a clerk for the Honorable Judge Sidney Galton, where he gained firsthand exposure to courtroom dynamics and trial advocacy.

After early work in criminal defense and civil litigation, Matthew opened his own firm in 2003 to focus on helping injury victims. Since then, he has taken on Fortune 500 companies, negligent municipalities, and correctional institutions, securing justice in complex cases involving industrial accidents, medical neglect, unsafe premises, and more.

Matthew is admitted to practice in Oregon, Washington, the U.S. District Court of Oregon, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He is a member of the Oregon Trial Lawyers Association, the American Association for Justice, and state bar associations in Oregon and Washington.
