Matthew D. Kaplan

Matthew D. Kaplan is the founding attorney of Kaplan Law, LLC, where he represents victims of serious personal injury and wrongful death across Oregon. With decades of courtroom experience, he provides aggressive, intelligent advocacy to clients harmed by negligence, unsafe conditions, or civil rights violations.

Matthew earned his Juris Doctor from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles in 1996 and graduated cum laude with a B.A. in History from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst in 1993. He began his legal career as a clerk for the Honorable Judge Sidney Galton, where he gained firsthand exposure to courtroom dynamics and trial advocacy.

After starting his career in criminal defense and civil litigation, Matthew launched his own firm in 2003 dedicated exclusively to personal injury law. Since then, he’s gone up against Fortune 500 companies, negligent cities and counties, and unsafe correctional facilities—winning justice for clients in complex cases involving industrial accidents, medical negligence, dangerous property conditions, and other serious injuries.

Matthew is admitted to practice in Oregon, Washington, the U.S. District Court of Oregon, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He is a member of the Oregon Trial Lawyers Association, the American Association for Justice, and state bar associations in Oregon and Washington.
