Matthew A. Haltzman is an attorney whose practice focuses on criminal defense, personal injury, and civil rights litigation. Matthew earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Louisiana State University. He later completed a Bachelor of Arts in History from Louisiana State University. He went on to receive his Juris Doctor from Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University, followed by a Graduate Degree in Comparative Law, cum laude, from the same institution.
Matthew began his legal career in public service, working with the Department of Justice and the United States Attorney’s Office. He served in the Capital Crimes Unit in the District of Puerto Rico, assisting with prosecutions of violent offenders, and later worked as an SLIP prosecuting attorney in the District of Wyoming.
Matthew also obtained a “Confidential” level national security clearance while practicing federal criminal prosecution in Yellowstone National Park and Grand Teton National Park. Earlier in his career, he served as a federal judicial law extern to the Honorable Judge Richard L. Bourgeois, Jr. in the United States District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana.
Matthew has defended thousands of clients in criminal cases prosecuted by the State of Colorado, guiding matters from early investigation through trial. He has been nationally recognized for innovative defense strategies and has earned repeated selection as a Super Lawyers Rising Star over eight consecutive years.
