About
Maryalyce Cox is a Houston-based shareholder and civil litigation defense attorney who represents businesses and insurers in complex disputes. Her practice emphasizes retail and restaurant defense, products liability, premises liability, construction defects, labor and employment law, toxic torts, Americans with Disabilities Act claims, transportation matters, and insurance defense. She is licensed in Texas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma and practices in federal courts across Texas and western Louisiana.
Cox earned her J.D. magna cum laude from the University of Houston Law Center, where she was elected to the Order of the Coif and Order of the Barons. She served as Casenotes and Comments Editor of the Houston Journal of International Law and received the John and Becky Moore Scholarship Award. She also graduated magna cum laude from Northwestern State University with a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies, building a strong foundation for analytical and strategic legal work.
Cox has tried cases to verdict throughout Texas involving construction defects, employment discrimination, personal injury, premises liability, transportation claims, and ADA disputes. Her results include defense verdicts for landlords, restaurants, contractors, retailers, and transportation clients, as well as a take-nothing judgment in a nonsubscriber personal injury action seeking more than $1 million. This trial experience helps her evaluate risk, prepare practical defense strategies, and guide clients through litigation in state and federal courts.
Maryalyce Cox is Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. She has been recognized in The Best Lawyers in America for mass tort litigation and class actions, labor and employment litigation, and product liability defense.
