Mark W. Bennett is a Houston criminal defense law and appellate attorney at Bennett & Bennett, who has practiced criminal defense since 1995. He tries serious criminal cases before juries in Harris County and across Texas. He also handles criminal appeals, federal matters, and post-conviction habeas proceedings. His appellate work includes victories in the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals, Texas Supreme Court, Georgia Supreme Court, and Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals on significant legal issues.

Mark earned his J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center in 1995. He earned his B.A. from Rice University in 1992. He also attended the Trial Lawyers College in Dubois, Wyoming, in 1999. His continued training has included psychodrama, improvisational theater, and hypnosis. He has applied those disciplines to persuasion and trial advocacy, with particular attention to jury selection and communication during serious criminal cases before Texas juries statewide.

Mark is Board Certified in Criminal Law and Criminal Appellate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. He handles violent crimes, sex crimes, property crimes, drug offenses, professional license defense, federal charges, appeals, and habeas corpus matters. His federal practice includes white-collar crimes, fraud, identity theft, money laundering, drug conspiracies, and other allegations. He also teaches jury selection, ethics, and constitutional criminal law at continuing legal education programs nationwide.

Mark W. Bennett has served as President of the Harris County Criminal Lawyers Association and has received the Charles D. Butts Award. He is admitted before Texas and Colorado supreme courts, all four federal districts in Texas, the Fifth Circuit, and the US Supreme Court. His practice emphasizes trial advocacy, appellate analysis, constitutional issues, and post-conviction representation. He brings extensive courtroom experience and advanced advocacy training to complex criminal matters.
