About
Mark L. Sperry is a partner at Langrock Sperry & Wool whose practice covers real estate, commercial, municipal, environmental, land use, and estate planning matters. He handles both transactions and litigation for individuals, businesses, developers, and municipalities. His work ranges from residential property sales and commercial acquisitions to leases, permitting disputes, municipal counseling, estate plans, and business succession issues requiring practical judgment across several areas of Vermont law.
Mark earned his J.D. from Yale University School of Law and his B.A. from Yale University. Before helping found the firm in 1966, he clerked for Judge Ernest W. Gibson of the US District Court for the District of Vermont. His education and federal clerkship experience provided a strong foundation in legal analysis, litigation procedure, property law, and the careful evaluation of complex commercial and public-law issues.
Mark represents clients in real estate and commercial transactions, complicated permit proceedings, appeals, and other contested matters. He also serves as counsel to Vermont municipalities on zoning, planning, taxation, labor relations, and related issues. His estate practice includes sophisticated planning for individuals and succession planning for family businesses, allowing him to address legal questions that connect property ownership, business operations, family planning, and long-term asset management.
Mark L. Sperry has received longstanding recognition for real estate law and real estate litigation and has served Vermont’s professional responsibility system in several roles. His broad practice combines transactional experience with litigation and municipal counseling. He helps clients understand complicated legal frameworks, structure important transactions, prepare for future ownership and succession needs, and resolve disputes involving property, development, estates, and local government matters.
