Mariah H. McGrogan is a partner in Reed Smith’s Pittsburgh office and a member of the firm’s Labor, Employment & Benefits Group. She represents employers in workplace litigation involving harassment, retaliation, discrimination, wrongful discharge, and breach of contract claims. Mariah appears in federal and state courts across the country and before agencies such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and state human relations commissions. She also counsels employers on compliance, employee discipline, accommodations, reductions in force, and litigation avoidance.
Mariah earned her J.D., cum laude, from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 2014, where she served as senior topics editor of the University of Pittsburgh Law Review. She received her B.B.A. in marketing from the University of Notre Dame in 2011 and earned university honors for leadership and service. Her academic background strengthened her legal research, writing, and analytical skills, which support her work on sensitive employment disputes and complex workplace investigations.
Mariah has successfully defended employers in age and disability discrimination, retaliation, Family and Medical Leave Act, wrongful termination, wage, and contract cases. Her representative matters include obtaining favorable jury and summary judgment outcomes for health care systems, insurers, universities, and other organizations. She also conducts internal investigations involving fraud, embezzlement, theft, discrimination, and harassment, and trains human resources professionals on properly conducting and documenting workplace investigations.
Mariah H. McGrogan is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and West Virginia and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and several federal district courts. She is affiliated with the Allegheny County Bar Association and regularly contributes to discussions on changing employment laws and workplace compliance. Mariah combines litigation experience, careful judgment, and practical counseling to help employers manage sensitive disputes, investigate workplace concerns, reduce risk, and make informed personnel decisions.
