Maria Alexander

Maria Alexander is a partner in Freeman Mathis & Gary LLP’s Hartford office who focuses on litigation involving retail liability and trucking and transportation defense. She represents clients in state and federal courts, including self-insured retailers, national trucking companies, and student transportation companies. Her work falls within the firm’s Tort & Catastrophic Liability practice and includes alternative dispute resolution as well as litigation strategy for businesses facing significant liability claims.

Maria earned a J.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Law and a B.A. in Political Science from Villanova University. She is admitted in Connecticut state courts and the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut. Her education and litigation background support defense work involving complex factual records, accident investigations, liability analysis, damages, insurance issues, and procedural requirements in state and federal civil litigation.

Maria previously worked for a national insurance company, where she defended product liability claims and lawsuits for large national companies. Those matters involved manufacturers of construction equipment, home appliances, consumer products, toys, and child safety products. She is licensed in Connecticut as a casualty adjuster for all lines of insurance. Her current firm work connects with transportation, products liability, retail, hospitality, aviation, media, and homeowners association matters through its interdisciplinary teams.
