Luke Grundman is a dedicated attorney committed to advancing housing justice and consumer protection. As Litigation Director at Legal Aid, he leads efforts to defend tenants’ rights, prevent foreclosures, and combat predatory lending practices. His work has helped countless individuals and families maintain stable housing and secure their legal rights in challenging circumstances.
Mr. Grundman earned his undergraduate degree from the University of St. Thomas before obtaining his Juris Doctor from the University of Minnesota Law School. His legal education provided a strong foundation for his career in public interest law, equipping him with the skills to advocate for vulnerable communities and challenge systemic injustices in housing and consumer protection.
Since joining Legal Aid in 2009 as an Equal Justice Works Fellow, Mr. Grundman has worked extensively to fight foreclosures and predatory lending. He later staffed a medical-legal partnership clinic at Hennepin County Medical Center, assisting patients facing legal housing and financial security barriers. His leadership in the housing unit from 2016 to 2021 strengthened Legal Aid’s impact on eviction defense and tenant advocacy.
In 2022, Luke Grundman stepped into the role of Litigation Director, leading high-impact legal strategies to protect low-income renters and homeowners from housing instability and wrongful eviction. A recognized leader in public interest law, he received the Bernard P. Becker Award from the Minnesota State Bar Association in 2017 and the Hennepin County Bar Association Excellence Award in 2020. In late 2023 and early 2024, he also served as Legal Aid’s interim executive director, highlighting his trusted leadership and commitment to housing justice and tenant rights.
Mr. Grundman’s career reflects a deep commitment to ensuring fair housing policies and protecting vulnerable individuals from unlawful evictions and financial exploitation. His expertise, advocacy, and leadership continue to shape housing law and provide critical legal assistance to those in need.
