Lisa Torraco

Lisa Torraco is a highly respected attorney with extensive experience in criminal defense, appeals, and litigation. She has served in various leadership roles, including as a New Mexico State Senator, where she worked on criminal justice reform initiatives.

Torraco earned her J.D. from the University of New Mexico School of Law in Albuquerque. Additionally, she received a Certificate of International Criminal Studies from the University of San Diego School of Law. Before law school, she completed her undergraduate studies at the University of New Mexico, earning a B.A. in Economics cum laude.

Lisa Torraco began her career as an Assistant District Attorney in the 1st and 2nd District Attorneys’ Offices, later becoming Senior Managing Attorney in the Child Abuse Division for multiple counties. Her prosecutorial work earned her the New Prosecutor of the Year Award from the New Mexico Bar Association. She continued her contributions to the legal field by serving on the Board of Directors for the Prosecutors Section and working as an Adjunct Professor at the University of New Mexico School of Law for a decade.

Beyond prosecution, Torraco is a strong advocate for criminal justice reform. As a New Mexico State Senator from 2013 to 2016, she co-chaired the Criminal Justice Reform Subcommittee, pushing for smarter legal policies. She also contributes as a keynote speaker at legal conferences and serves on various legal committees.
