About
Lisa Manning is a partner at Schertler Onorato Mead & Sears, where she represents clients in white-collar criminal defense, complex investigations, and litigation. Her practice spans from local criminal trials to international regulatory inquiries, often involving securities, antitrust, and fraud enforcement actions.
Manning earned her law degree from Washington & Lee Law School and completed her undergraduate studies in International Relations and Economics at The George Washington University. She is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia, Virginia, and Maryland, as well as multiple federal courts and the U.S. Supreme Court.
Before joining the firm in 2011 and becoming a partner in 2018, Manning founded a practice focused on criminal record mitigation. Her current work includes defending individuals and companies in Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) matters, DOJ and SEC investigations, and congressional inquiries. She also assists clients in expungement efforts and mitigating the collateral consequences of criminal records.
Manning has successfully handled high-profile cases, including securing acquittals in federal cartel trials and representing executives and entities in multi-jurisdictional investigations. Her work often involves cross-border legal issues, particularly in antitrust and securities enforcement, where she coordinates defense across U.S. and foreign authorities.
Manning is recognized for her leadership and advocacy. She was named Young Lawyer of the Year by the Bar Association of the District of Columbia in 2015, honored in National Trial Lawyers’ “40 Under 40” (2017), and consistently recognized by Super Lawyers for white-collar defense. She also completed the D.C. Bar’s John Payton Leadership Academy.
With a client-focused approach and wide-ranging litigation experience, Lisa Manning provides comprehensive legal counsel for individuals facing complex criminal and regulatory challenges. Her skill in courtroom advocacy and strategic counsel continues to distinguish her within the white-collar defense bar.
