Lindsey Haugen

Lindsey Haugen is a criminal defense attorney at O’Keeffe O’Brien Lyson Attorneys in Fargo, North Dakota. He represents clients charged with misdemeanors, felonies, DUI and DWI offenses, drug crimes, property crimes, and juvenile offenses. Lindsey has spent more than 25 years defending people in the Red River Valley. His current practice focuses exclusively on criminal defense, allowing him to concentrate on criminal procedure, evidence, and the decisions involved in responding to charges.

Lindsey earned a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, with minors in Sociology and Political Science, from the University of North Dakota. He then received his Juris Doctor from the University of North Dakota School of Law in 2002. During law school, he participated in the Law Review and Moot Court and was involved with the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. This education helped prepare him for work involving legal research, courtroom argument, and the protection of defendants’ rights.

Lindsey began his legal career with a Grand Forks firm that focused primarily on criminal defense. He later moved to Fargo and helped build Haugen, Moeckel & Bossart, a practice devoted to representing defendants in criminal matters. After his partners retired, he joined O’Keeffe O’Brien Lyson Attorneys in 2026. His experience includes representing clients at different stages of criminal proceedings, from addressing charges and evidence to preparing legal responses and courtroom advocacy.

Lindsey Haugen is admitted to practice in North Dakota, Minnesota, and federal courts. His professional memberships include criminal defense lawyer associations at the national and state levels, along with the American Bar Association. He has also received Super Lawyers recognition as a top-rated criminal defense attorney. His long-standing focus on criminal cases offers clients representation informed by years of practice in the courts and communities of North Dakota and Minnesota.
