Lee Schoenbeck is a South Dakota attorney with extensive experience in complex litigation matters. His practice focuses on personal injury, insurance, commercial, and estate planning litigation, as well as professional negligence. Lee graduated from Augustana College in 1980 and later earned his law degree from the University of South Dakota School of Law in 1984. His education provided a strong legal foundation and prepared him for a career focused on litigation and public service.
Lee has achieved notable results in jury trials. He obtained a $2.4 million verdict in an insurance bad-faith case, a $559,507.20 verdict in an insurance-fraud case, and a $600,000 verdict in an underinsurance case. Each verdict was the largest in the history of the respective county.
Lee has served in several public roles, including State’s Attorney for Day County from 1985 to 1989. He also served in the South Dakota Legislature as a Senator and a member of the House. For six years, he was elected by fellow Senators to serve as President Pro Tempore.
Lee is licensed to practice in South Dakota, the Federal District Court for the District of South Dakota, and the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals. He has also shared his knowledge as a guest lecturer in insurance law, focusing on litigation strategy and case preparation.
