Lawrence G. Gillespie

Lawrence G. Gillespie is a partner at Gillespie, Hetlage & Coughlin, L.L.C. in Clayton whose practice focuses on domestic relations law and appellate practice. He represents clients in family law litigation and appeals, including matters that present difficult questions involving custody, parental rights, and trial-court rulings. His long courtroom background gives clients experienced guidance when a family dispute requires detailed legal analysis and sustained appellate advocacy.

Lawrence earned a J.D. from St. Louis University and an H.B.A., magna cum laude, from St. Louis University. After law school, he served as a law clerk to Missouri Court of Appeals Judge J. Crist. That appellate clerkship provided early experience with judicial decision-making, written advocacy, standards of review, and the analysis of trial records, all of which support his later work in domestic relations litigation and appeals.

Lawrence has handled numerous reported appellate cases, including Bowers v. Bowers, Pasternak v. Pasternak, A.E.B. v. T.B., and other Missouri family law matters. His work has included appeals before the Missouri Supreme Court as well as domestic relations litigation in trial courts. This experience allows him to assess family disputes from both trial and appellate perspectives and to address legal issues that can shape long-term family arrangements.

Lawrence G. Gillespie is admitted in Missouri and before the US Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit.
