About
Lance Wood is a military lawyer at Military Trial Defenders, who represents service members facing serious allegations under the Uniform Code of Military Justice. He has spent more than 20 years handling military defense matters. His legal career began in the US Air Force JAG Corps, where he served for nearly ten years. During that time, he worked as a prosecutor, defense counsel, and appellate defense counsel. That experience gave him perspective on military cases from several procedural roles.
Lance earned a J.D. from the University of Denver College of Law. He received a B.A. from the University of Redlands. He is a graduate of Gerry Spence’s Trial Lawyers College, where he completed training focused on trial advocacy. His academic and trial-focused education prepared him for courtroom work involving military criminal cases and contested proceedings.
Lance focuses on defending military personnel in courts-martial and other proceedings involving alleged violations of the UCMJ. His practice includes sexual assault and harassment allegations, drug offenses, assault charges, fraternization matters, nonjudicial punishment, discharge boards, and child exploitation allegations. He represents active-duty, reserve, and guard personnel across all branches of the US military. His work involves case preparation, courtroom advocacy, and defense strategy in matters that can affect a service member’s career and future.
Lance Wood continues his military defense work as a civilian attorney after leaving active duty in 2011. He represents service members in military proceedings worldwide and draws on his prior JAG experience when preparing cases. His background includes work on the prosecution, defense, and appellate sides of military justice. He focuses on protecting clients’ constitutional rights and providing defense representation throughout challenging military legal proceedings.
