Kristy Mara

Kristy Mara is a respected partner at Honsa Mara & Kanne who has been practicing family law for over 23 years. Known for her skill in both negotiation and litigation, Kristy focuses on helping clients through complex family law matters. These include business valuations, dividing retirement plans, executive compensation, tax issues, spousal maintenance, and child custody or support. Kristy earned her B.A. with honors from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls in 1992. She later attended William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota, where she received her J.D., graduating magna cum laude in 1997.

Admitted to the Minnesota Bar in 1997 and the U.S. District Court in 1998, Kristy is a highly respected Minnesota family law attorney with decades of experience. She is Board Certified as a Family Trial Advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy (NBTA), a distinction earned by only a select group of family law litigators. Clients rely on her for clear, strategic guidance in complex divorce, custody, and other family law matters. Kristy is also a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation and the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, which she joined in 2007—recognitions that underscore her leadership and excellence in family law.
