Kristy Mara is a respected partner at Honsa Mara & Kanne who has been practicing family law for over 23 years. Known for her skill in both negotiation and litigation, Kristy focuses on helping clients through complex family law matters. These include business valuations, dividing retirement plans, executive compensation, tax issues, spousal maintenance, and child custody or support. Kristy earned her B.A. with honors from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls in 1992. She later attended William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota, where she received her J.D., graduating magna cum laude in 1997.
Since being admitted to the Minnesota Bar in 1997 and the U.S. District Court in 1998, Kristy has built a strong reputation in family law. She is Board Certified as a Family Trial Advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy (NBTA). Her clients value her deep knowledge of complex legal matters and her ability to guide them through difficult situations. She is also a Fellow of both the American Bar Foundation and the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, a group she joined in 2007.
Kristy Mara has received many honors, including being listed in Minnesota Super Lawyers every year since 2013. She has been named one of the Top 50 Women Lawyers in Minnesota since 2015 and one of the Top 100 Lawyers since 2016. Her work is also recognized in The Best Lawyers in America for Family Law.
