Katie M. Filler

Katie M. Filler is a partner and attorney at Caldwell Filler & Grayson who focuses on criminal defense. Her practice includes drug offenses, DUIs, juvenile defense, protective orders, sexual offenses, stalking injunctions, victim advocacy, violent crimes, and other misdemeanor and felony matters. She practices from the firm’s Park City, Salt Lake City, South Jordan, and Tooele offices and represents clients facing charges with potentially serious criminal consequences.

Katie earned a B.A. in Political Studies from Westminster College, graduating summa cum laude. She later graduated with honors from the University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law and was elected to the Order of the Coif, an honor for students in the top portion of the class. Her academic background provided a strong foundation for courtroom advocacy, legal analysis, and the close review of evidence in criminal cases.

Katie began her legal career at the Salt Lake County District Attorney’s Office, where she prosecuted misdemeanor and felony cases. She was assigned to the Major Crimes Unit and prosecuted domestic violence and special-victims matters. She now applies that prosecutorial experience to criminal defense, including cases involving drug possession, domestic violence allegations, sexual offenses, and homicide, while preparing matters for negotiation, hearings, and trial.

Katie M. Filler is licensed with the Utah State Bar and continues to work as a criminal defense trial attorney. Her transition from prosecution to defense gives her experience with criminal cases from different roles in the justice system. She represents clients through contested proceedings where evidence, credibility, legal standards, and potential penalties require detailed review and focused advocacy from the early stages of a case through resolution.
