Katie L. Gallo

Katie L. Gallo is a shareholder at Shindler, Anderson, Goplerud & Weese P.C. in West Des Moines, Iowa. Her practice centers on family law and cases involving children and parents. She represents clients in dissolution proceedings, custody and visitation disputes, child support matters, modifications, adoptions, guardianships, and juvenile law. Katie earned a B.A. in Psychology and Political Science, cum laude, from the University of Iowa in 2006. She completed her J.D. with honors at Drake University Law School in 2009 and was admitted to practice in Iowa that year. Her academic training in human behavior and law informs her work with parents, children, and families whose cases involve both legal questions and sensitive relationships. She uses that background to evaluate disputes and explain available options.

Before entering her current practice, Katie served as in-house counsel for a youth services agency in Des Moines. That experience gave her direct exposure to the needs of young people and the organizations serving them. Her family law work includes contested proceedings and negotiated solutions concerning parenting time, support obligations, and changes to existing court orders. She also handles juvenile and guardianship matters in which decisions can affect a child’s welfare and a family’s long-term arrangements.
