About

Kathryn E. Lauterbach is a New York and Maryland lawyer and partner at The Lauterbach Law Firm, with more than 20 years of legal experience. Her practice focuses on foreclosure defense and bankruptcy law, where she advocates for clients seeking legal relief from financial challenges. Before entering private practice, she worked in public interest law and gained experience analyzing legislation and advocating for the rights of people with disabilities.

Kathryn earned her B.A. in Political Science with a minor in Spanish from the University of Maryland. She later earned her J.D. from Delaware Law School. During law school, she interned with the Delaware Law Clinic, representing economically disadvantaged clients under court supervision. She was selected for an internship with the National Academy of Sciences Committee on Human Rights in Washington, D.C.

Kathryn worked as a lobbyist and Associate Legislative Director with the Eastern Paralyzed Veterans Association before moving into private practice. She analyzed and advocated on legislative proposals before Congress. Her work focused on advancing disability rights under the Americans with Disabilities Act and related state and local laws. Her background in public interest advocacy complements her private practice representing clients in foreclosure defense and bankruptcy matters.

Kathryn E. Lauterbach is admitted to the New York State Bar and Maryland State Bar. She is admitted to federal court in the Southern District of New York as well. Her professional background combines private practice with legislative advocacy and public interest work. She draws on that experience when assisting clients facing foreclosure and bankruptcy issues and seeking available remedies under state and federal law.
