She advises clients facing U.S. and transnational criminal liability, global risk assessments, compliance-program design, and enforcement actions involving multilateral development banks. Her work draws on nearly two decades of federal government service at the U.S. Department of Justice and U.S. Department of State.

Her education prepared her for a career combining law, diplomacy, policy, and criminal enforcement. She later became an adjunct professor at American University Washington College of Law, adding an academic dimension to a practice that requires close attention to international enforcement systems, compliance frameworks, and the interaction of different national laws.

As international policy counsel on anticorruption, she represented the Department before the OECD Working Group on Bribery and advised on foreign corporate-criminal-liability issues. Earlier, she served as a Foreign Service Officer and worked on anticorruption, governance, and international law-enforcement policy for the Department of State.
Kathleen M. Hamann combines enforcement experience, diplomatic service, and private-practice counseling in matters involving global investigations and compliance. She has received the Assistant Attorney General’s Award for Exceptional Service and other professional recognition for her anticorruption work. She also speaks and writes on FCPA enforcement, international investigations, compliance systems, and conflict-of-laws issues, helping clients understand regulatory risk across jurisdictions and respond to complex government scrutiny.
