About
Kathie A. Perry is a managing partner of The Criminal Defense Team and a board-certified Criminal Trial Specialist in Indiana. She focuses on criminal defense and has devoted nearly all her legal career to representing accused individuals. Her work includes serious felony allegations, violent crime cases, and demanding courtroom proceedings. She serves clients facing charges where careful preparation, evidence analysis, and trial advocacy are especially important.
Perry earned a J.D. from Indiana University Maurer School of Law in Bloomington in 2001, where she received a merit scholarship. She previously earned a B.A. in Sociology from the University of Washington in 1996 and an AA from Columbia Basin Community College in 1992. Her education supports a practice that requires legal research, factual investigation, and the ability to assess how evidence will be understood in court.
Perry served as a deputy public defender with the Marion County Public Defender Agency from 2001 to 2014. Her courtroom experience includes jury trials involving murder, rape, aggravated battery, attempted murder, and burglary allegations. She has described a sequence of five major trials in which none of the defendants were found guilty. Her practice also requires responding to changing witness testimony, evidentiary issues, and the practical pressures of contested criminal litigation.
Kathie A. Perry has held certification as a Criminal Trial Specialist through the National Board of Trial Advocacy since 2017. She participates in professional criminal defense organizations and has served in leadership positions with the certifying board. She also presents continuing legal education programs. Her work emphasizes thorough preparation, clear trial strategy, and sustained advocacy for clients whose liberty and reputation may depend on the outcome of a criminal case.
