Katherine L. Murphy is a partner in Goodwin’s Real Estate group and serves as Co-Chair of Real Estate Transaction Services and Chair of the firm’s Leasing practice. Based in Boston, she represents landlords, tenants, lenders, investors, and developers in complex commercial leasing transactions across a wide range of asset classes nationwide.

Katie earned her Bachelor of Arts degree, magna cum laude, from Boston College in 1992. She went on to receive her Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from Suffolk University School of Law in 1996. During law school, she served as a staff member and comment editor of the Suffolk University Law Review, demonstrating strong academic achievement.

Katie focuses her practice on negotiating sophisticated lease transactions for office, retail, industrial, laboratory, medical office, biotech, data center, and build-to-suit headquarters facilities. She advises clients on both large-scale and highly customized leasing matters, applying practical judgment and strategic insight to transactions throughout the United States.

Katie represents REITs, institutional owners, private equity firms, developers, and retailers in significant regional and national projects. Her experience includes major headquarters leases, sale-leaseback transactions, life science developments, and award-winning commercial properties in Boston, New York, Washington, D.C., California, and other key markets nationwide.

Katie has received multiple professional recognitions, including the Collaborating Professional of the Year Award from the Commercial Brokers Association of Massachusetts. She has also been recognized by The Best Lawyers in America for her work in Real Estate Law and for involvement in several Deal of the Year transactions.

Katherine L. Murphy is admitted to practice law in Massachusetts and is a member of the Boston Bar Association, American Bar Association, International Council of Shopping Centers, and the Commercial Brokers Association of Massachusetts. She is also a certified LEED Green Associate, known for disciplined advocacy, precise negotiation, and client-focused representation.
